BLOG: Chick-fil-a First 100

So, a few of us Choctaw’s decided to crash the Grand Opening party for Brandon’s Chick-fil-a, which opened today at 6:00 a.m.

The cool part about the Grand Opening is that, for the first 100 people who get there, free Chick-fil-a for an entire year is awarded. The catch, however, is that they have to camp out at the new location for 24 hours in order to receive the free goods!

Here is a documentary of our 24 hour adventure:

We arrived at Chick-fil-a at 5:30 Wednesday morning and got in line. At 6:00 AM, the staff at the Grand Opening numbered us off.  Lucky for us, there were only about 75 people there at the beginning of the day. This meant that we were definite winners of the free Chick-Fil-A for a year, the grand prize.

That also meant that we had to camp out the full 24 hours, on one of the hottest, longest days of the summer. Not a cloud in the sky, we had to set up camp to hide away in the shade from the sun. We played a good deal of games to keep us occupied.

Thankfully, Chick-fil-a was kind enough to provide us with cool water and sweet tea throughout the day as well as feed us breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night ice cream. We ate good, I’ll just say that.

As the sun went down, Chick-fil-a provided a DJ, and there was a huge dance party for all of us. Families, College students, and others came out and had a good time together. Over 100 people were in line at this time, 100 contestants and 10 alternates. It was quite an adventure to meet all of the people we did, hear their stories and see where they came from.

When we saw the sun again, early this morning at around 5:30, eveyone packed up camp and was instructed to line up again, one last time, to receive our grand prize. New’s crews were there, tons of staff, and, of course, the Cow. Check out a report here, featuring MC students and alums.

They gave us all t-shirts and hats commemorating our great feat, and led us into the restaurant to receive our grand prize from the store owner himself! Walking away, we have a year’s supply of Chick-fil-a under our belts, new friendships, and great memories!

Go to the Chick-fil-a website to see if there is a grand opening near you. Maybe you could be one of the First 100!
