My friends, it’s finally Spring Fever Week. Hands down, this is the best week of the year. So many things are happening this week such Phillip Phllips live in concert, tye dye parties, bowling, and the weekends on Thursday night with Mississppi College hosting the fourth annual independent film festival.
This is a night where aspiring filmaking students at Mississippi College get to showcase their creative skills in an original 20 minute short film. Peronsally, this is my favorite event of the entire year, and I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy it. The students who participate in this night work very hard on these films and spend a very large amount of time to give this night a reason to exist.
Each film brings a different element, and tells a unique story. There’s free popcorn and blankets provided on the quad, and you are guaranteed to have a good time. Whether you are laughing or crying, its a good chance to enjoy seeing fellow students and friends produce films that you can enjoy. The best part comes at the end of the night, when you get to decide who’s film was the best. The winner of the film festival is decided by a popular vote, as the students fill out a ballot deciding who should win first place. Overall, the film festival is a great night that never disappoints. This year’s films are ready to premier, so make sure you come out this Thursday night at 8 oclock!
Last year’s winner was Ethan Miliner in his short film entitled “The Waiting Place”. Starring MC students Turner Brown and Kayla Allen, this film had us all on the edge of our seats the entire time and was definitely worthy of first place. Check it out here!
