Valentine’s Day is Friday! If you’re like most people, you haven’t nailed down any plans, but that’s okay! It’s nothing to stress over. Here’s the thing: Valentine’s Day can be awesome night if done correctly. If you’re not in a relationship, you should check out Hannah’s blog (coming tomorrow!) on what to do on Valentine’s if you are single. If you’re in a relationship, start planning….NOW!
Maybe all the restaurants are booked up, maybe you want to change things up from a normal Friday night date, and maybe you are slightly stressing out that the big night is so close. That’s okay! Here are some cool ideas for an awesome, last-minute Valentine’s Day date ideas.
5. Movie Night
Some people think that it’s overdone, but movie night is quite possibly the easiest and most popular Valentine’s night option. Maybe you can take her to see Frozen for the 7th time, or maybe you can convince him to finally go with you to see that new chick flick. Whatever the case, you can never go wrong with a movie! If you want to change things up, you could even have a double feature movie night at home–watch your date’s favorite movie and then watch your favorite movie! Don’t forget the popcorn!
4. Make Dinner at Home
Sure–you’ve been out to eat at most of the places in town, but have you ever made a homemade dinner? I guarrantee that your date will be impressed that you’ve taken the time to cook for them. And if you want to make a date out of it, cooking with your Valentine can be super fun and you get a great (and sometimes cheaper) meal out of it!
3. Go Restaurant Hopping
Maybe cooking your own meal isn’t your thing. A great and fun date idea is to go restaurant hopping! You could start out with an appetizer at your favorite place, then go to a nicer restaurant for the main course, and finish off the night at a fun dessert location! This date takes very little planning and who doesn’t love to eat out at new places? Be sure to check ahead and see if you need to make reservations!
2. Go Shopping
I don’t really mean to take your girlfriend or boyfriend shopping, but Valentine’s Date night is a great time to explore the shops in your city. Grab a cup of coffee at your favorite coffee shop and go exploring the stores! Take your date window shopping at the most expensive shop. Maybe you can check out the outlet malls. Visit a local bookstore and spend time goofing off together in the kid’s book section. Who knows, your local speciality grocery store might even be offering really good samples that the two of you could enjoy together?
1. Do Something Out of the Ordinary
Maybe you and your significant other always do the same thing on your dates and when you hang out. There’s nothing wrong with that, but Valentine’s night is a great night to change things up! Check out your local community theatre or symphony schedule, check out the art gallery, or see if there are any other cool events happening in your city. Go putt-putt golfing or see if there are any ballroom dance classes available. Most local events may even have a student discount! Whatever you do, Valentine’s Day is the day to get creative!
So there we go–if you haven’t started planning for Friday, start right now! Ultimately, the point of Valentine’s Day is to spend it with someone who is special to you. So don’t stress, focus on that special someone, and your last-minute Valentine’s date will be a success!
